In my previous post I mentioned I lead 2 classes per week. It's a silent Bikram class, which is no where near as extensive as the regular classes. I have not been through the hellish training that my friends have accomplished, which I can't praise them enough for. (I will share about them in another post, as their efforts are deserving of a WHOLE BOOK, let alone a blog post.)
The lights are low, the music plays in the background and I simply say the names of each pose, notify practitioners when to begin and when to release out of the pose. I love leading the silent classes because it keeps me focused and in turn, my practice is more centered because I have to keep time of the pose lengths throughout.
Also, coming from a very athletic background, I'm used to listening to music when I workout. Although yoga has many components to it, I still consider it a workout (emotional, physical and spiritual) and each class I take feeds those needs. However, sometimes you just need good music to get you through a particularly tough sequence, which is this case is Bikram. I switch up the play-lists for each class, but here is the one from yesterdays 4pm Silent.
